The Huntingdon Emerald
The Friends of Huntingdon Emerald are dedicated to transforming and maintaining a welcoming green space that fosters community connections, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood pride. We work together to create a safe, accessible, and vibrant park for all to enjoy.
The Friends of Huntingdon Emerald Park operate under Arcadia Commons and are working to transform a city-owned lot at East Huntingdon and Emerald Streets into a welcoming green space.
The process began in 2015 with Councilman Squilla’s support and neighborhood volunteers stepping up to maintain and improve the site. Over the years, Arcadia Commons secured design assistance, hosted community events, and collaborated with city agencies to move the project forward. In 2023, Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) began installation of stormwater infrastructure and hope to finish this project soon. Efforts are now focused on finalizing continuing improvements. As of early 2024, Friends of Huntingdon Emerald Park remains committed to caring for the space and working with partners to ensure it becomes a thriving community asset.
